Role purpose

Commercial KPIs analyses and reporting as well as explaining key drivers of the performance trends to the Commercial Leadership Team and other stakeholders of the company to enable them engage in a strategic dialogue that facilitates timely and effective fact based/data driven decision-making that is essential for meeting the company’s performance targets

Development, management and expansion of the management information system (datamining) as well as being the custodian of all BI tools and databases 

Implements and updates the commercial performance reporting dashboards for different commercial departments

Lead as the principal interface between IT/Finance MIS and Commercial teams on commercial databases integrity and management matters to ensure timely availability and reliability of data to drive accurate fact-based decisions

Job Responsibility

Key accountabilities and decision ownership 

1.Commercial Performance Management

Commercial performance analysis and reporting as well as explaining the drivers of performance and targets/budget achievement variances to the senior commercial leadership and other company stakeholders to facilitate timely and effective decision-making that is essential for meeting the company’s performance targets

Taking and distributing commercial performance matters agreed items during the weekly commercial performance meetings with the commercial leadership team and follow up on agreed items meant to drive improvement of commercial performance

2.Data Mining

Responsible for the availability and reliability of data on key commercial performance indicators at very micro levels and on a timely manner to support the commercial teams and other company stakeholders to make accurate data driven/fact based decisions. 

Mining data from different sources, and organizing the data in a format that is end user friendly.

Designing as well as maintaining data systems and databases including databases’ issues problem solving/troubleshooting.    

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

Excellent analytical, data synthesis and performance reporting skills with a knack of explaining the relationship and drivers of commercial KPIs in clear and succinct performance narratives 

Extensive knowledge on big data analytics principles & tenets

Solid Experience with SQL database

Strong stakeholder management, leadership and people management skills

Good perception and understanding of the Telecommunications industry is highly advantageous

Long Description

Must have technical / professional qualifications

Bachelor degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics/Statistics/or any other relevant field

Solid knowledge of SQL database

Advanced Excel and Ms. PowerPoint super user

3+ years’ industry or functional experience is desirable

Key performance indicators

Quality, accuracy and timely delivery of commercial analyses, performance reports/dashboards and recommendations

Commercial value realised from the actionable insights derived from the commercial performance reports and recommendations made to the commercial teams

Quality of stakeholder engagement

Direct reports: 2 full time employees & 2 contractors


Bad decisions linked to inaccurate data 

Bad decisions linked to wrong interpretation of the performance of the company or its drivers

Disclosure of sensitive company information (commercial KPIs performance reports)

Decrease in the profitability & competitiveness of the company due to poor monitoring of the various commercial KPIs
